Overview
Join curator and co-founder of NYC Jewelry Week, Bella Neyman as she takes her popular Jewelry Jaunts class to London, Europe’s “unofficial jewelry city”. Over the course of 5 days, the group will explore a wide range of jewelry, from antique and high-jewelry to pieces made by modern and contemporary artists to the benches of goldsmiths at Hatton Garden, the center of London’s jewelry trade. Each day will be a mix of historic and contemporary, we’ll study Royal tiaras in the collection of the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London and then try on tiaras at Garrard in Mayfair, we’ll visit art jewelry galleries like Didier, Ltd. and Louisa Guinness and then roam the world-renowned jewelry galleries of the Victoria & Albert Museum. On the itinerary will also be private visits to some of the most exclusive jewelry ateliers and artist studios, as well as an appointment with Goldsmiths’ Hall where we’ll learn about its impressive history of hallmarking going back to the 1300’s but also get unprecedented access into “…the world’s first-ever exhibition of modern art jewellery…” which took place at Goldsmith’s Hall in 1961. You will walk away feeling like a jewelry insider with an appreciation and understanding of jewelry history, styles, trends, and a great respect for artistry and craft.
